I started writing Dating Dick by Dick in the bitter winter of 2016 after a series of dating, let's call them, "mishaps". I had moved to London earlier that summer, three weeks from my 30th birthday to be precise, mostly to avoid the whispers of being an unattached female as the new decade commenced, but also in hope of finding love... (bleurgh.). I found 10 housemates and a world-cuisine of hungry, horny men instead.

Fun aside, the DDBD saga actually swings back to the thrills of my naïve 19 year old self - I mean, I didn't start dating altogether at 30, but I was definitely the "relationship type", or as hindsight tells me: too passive and pansy to end my boring, long, conflicted, long relationships. Don't worry, this isn't about those, but it does provide the context, without you losing years of your life like I did - it's the good stuff from the non-committal crusades I fell into for a while.

 

And after sharing said stories with close friends, (trusted) work pals, and even a bunch of burly construction workers in east London, it became clear that I had to tell ALL #nofilter

 

If it thrills you to know, I am Scottish based in Vancouver and the middle-child to two fiery, fairly liberal parents who have always supported my creative catalogue - whether that's Burlesque singing & flinging, or my need to share my clit-cringing sexual encounters with anyone who chooses to read them. AND, if you haven't already guessed, I educated myself in performing arts (BA Hons) plus creative media (PGC), while also wasting time attempting to fix boys narcissistic needs which is really the foundation of this blog and probably many other young womens experience of emancipation from the parental nest.

Now 'republishing' for 2023 and spoiler alert, things have changed. So, as I back-track and these traumatic tales unfold, you will truly appreciate the hurdles, harassment and humps it has taken to get me here.

As a general disclaimer, what you read in my blog is more than just stories - these are my POV on true experiences I (sometimes reluctantly) chose to relive in the written word for entertainment. BUT... I might have changed a name here or there to avoid conflict, denting a man's ego (OW), or worse - being trolled by catfish exes, or current GFs of exes. I do not claim to be established author, blogger, therapist, feminist or influencer LOL - I am still navigating this world and simply want to share my experiences. So, if my words offend you, rather than bring you joy and much laughter, don't sweat it.
